President Rodrigo Duterte staff officer dies in an accident in Quezon City after his motorcycle was hit by a van driven by a reckless driver.
Last Monday night, Duterte’s Staff Officer III was injured when a van collided with his motorcycle in Brgy. Doa Imelda, Quezon City. Pelagio Regoyla Diosdado, 44, Presidential Staff Officer III and resident of No. 531 F Legaspi St., Maybunga Pasig City, was the victim.
The suspect, who was immediately arrested, was identified as Benedict Faustino Bautista, 39, a driver and resident of Block 22, Lot 32, Beverly Homes Frensa II Marilao, Bulacan, according to QCPD Traffic Sector 4 commander police Major Marlon Meman.
According to the initial report of case holder PCpl. Wagner C. Acquisio, the accident happened about 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of G. Araneta Avenue and Aurora Blvd., Brgy. Doa Imelda, in town. The victim was reportedly riding in a yellow Honda XRM (no plate available) when the suspect’s Rebuilt Isuzu Insulated Van appeared out of nowhere on Aurora Blvd.
During the authorities’ ocular examination, it was discovered that left turns were prohibited in the area where the accident occurred, but the van nevertheless turned left, causing it to collide with the front of the victim’s car, causing it to fly and land on the cement.
President Duterte’s staff rushed to the Philippine Orthopedic. However, despite the fact that he was wearing a mask, he died at 11:55 a.m. from serious head trauma.
The perpetrator reportedly escaped, but was apprehended by members of the Eastern Police District’s District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB) at a checkpoint set up at G. Araneta Ave. and N. Domingo St. in San Juan City. While the case against him is being prepared, the suspect has been detained at QCPD Traffic Sector 4.
