Duterte Orders Probe on Gov’t Consultant Slay in Negros Occidental

President Rodrigo Duterte orders the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to probe the government consultant slay in Negros Occidental.

The President has tasked the NBI to investigate the killing of government consultant Mariano Antonio “Marton” Cui III who was gunned downed by unknown suspect in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental last month.

On April 12, an unidentified assailant shot and killed Negros Occidental’s consultant for hospital operations outside Emerald Arcade in Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City. Harry Roque, the presidential spokesman, announced the order of investigation 21 days later.

Cui, who also served as the chief-of-staff of former Negros Occidental first district Representative Jules Ledesma, was killed, Roque said at a press conference on Monday.

“Mariing kinokondena ng Pangulo ang pagpatay kay Mr. Mariano Antonio Cui III,” he said.

The President has directed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the murder and prosecute the perpetrators in order to bring justice to the victim’s family. Roque also expressed condolences to the slain government consultant’s family.

“Nakikiramay po ang Presidente sa pamilya at sa mga taga-Negros dahil alam po namin na mahal si Mr. Cui sa buong probinsiya ng Negros,” he added.
