14 Senators File Resolution Against Parlade Following Public Statements Against Them
SENATORS FILE RESOLUTION VS PARLADE – Recently, Senators such as Franklin Drilon expressed that the anti-insurgency task force should be defunded.
Amid the growing struggles of the poor in the lockdowns, Ana Patricia Non started the very first community pantry. Here, those who want to help could donate freely what they can, and those needy can take what they can based on their needs.
The concept quickly caught on and in a couple of days, community pantries could be seen across the Philippines. But, instead of taking this as a positive sign, Parlade believed that the pantries rise seemed “coordinated”.
Ass such, during an interview with One News, Parlade likened non to the devil. After this interview, the Senators and the public lambasted Parlade and urged them to defund his agency and add the budget to help with the pandemic response instead.
However, Parlade quickly responded and called the Senators “stupid” for wanting to defund his office. He cited that it was the Senators who signed the bill themselves.
After this, Drilon said that it was the first time in 24 years that a member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines called senators “stupid”. Additionally, he emphasized that it was certain that “Gen. Parlade will be censured by the Senate for this kind of conduct when we come back on May 17”.
Among the Senators who signed the resolution against Parlade are as follows:
- Senate President Vicente Sotto III
- Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto
- Sen. Nancy Binay
- Sen. Leila de Lima
- Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian
- Sen. Richard Gordon
- Sen. Risa Hontiveros
- Sen. Panfilo Lacson
- Sen. Lito Lapid
- Sen. Francis Pangilinan
- Sen. Grace Poe
- Sen. Joel Villanueva
- Sen. Koko Pimentel
- Sen. Pia Cayetano
