Netizens Lauded Sorbetes Vendor For Joining Community Pantry
COMMUNITY PANTRY ā A simple sorbetes vendor was lauded after he joined a community pantry in Pasay.
In Barangay 136 Pasay, a Sorbetes vendor came to the community pantry, but the people there thought he was going to sell his ice cream. However, the people were left with a positive shock as he said he was giving free ice cream to everybody.
In a Facebook Post, Mellyn Alipio Limjap said:
Dumating si Manong Ice Cream, ang akala ko ay magtitinda sya. Biglang sabi, “Libreng ice cream!!!”Tuwang-tuwa ang lahat!!! May konting pantawid sa araw na ito, may pa-ice cream pa! Nakakataba ng puso. Kahit alam natin na si Manong tindero ay may pangangailangan din, kusa parin silang nagbibigay.
Here are some of the comments on the post:
“Grabe. Ang galing. Kahit need din nila ang pagkkakitaan. Still nakuha p mag bigay at magbahagi. Daig p ang totoong may kaya sa buhay…“
Kung sino pa yun salat, sila pa ang taos pusong nagbibigay…
This is the real Filipino spirit! There is hope in our country! God bless Manong Sorbetero.
According to Limjap, the vendor was known as “Kuya Astor”. His brother-in-law, Kuya Roni also helped out and gave the people free ice-cream.
With the new lockdowns in place, the government merely gave the needy between P1000-P4,000 in cash-aid. Unfortunately, this could barely feed a family for a couple of days.
As such, a concerned citizen decided to create the “Community Pantry”. Here you could either donate food and necessities or take what you need for free. The concept caught on and thousands of people are now benefiting from these pantries across the country.
