Canada To Grant Permanent Residency To Health Care Workers

CANADA TO GRANT PERMANENT RESIDENCY – As a thank you to students and foreign workers who helped treat patients during the pandemic, the Canadian government is granting a permanent residency.

Canada has been known as one of the most welcoming countries when it comes to immigrants. Additionally, Canada has known to have a large Filipino community. Meanwhile, for those seeking quality benefits such as health care, and others, Canada has become the top choice for most OFWs who are given the opportunity.

According to an article from Inquirer, more than 90,000 foreign students and workers may avail of the grant. Furthermore, the program would take effect starting from May 6, 2021.

To avail of the grant, you must have at least one year of work experience in health care or other sectors deemed essential, especially amid the pandemic. This could include grocery store cashiers, shelf stockers, truck drivers, and farmworkers. Moreover, it also covers graduates who’ve finished their secondary degree in the last four years.

Last year, the coronavirus pandemic forced Canada to close its borders to migrants. As such, they failed to achieve their goal of welcoming 400,000 immigrants. But, with the new grant, the government aims to compensate for last year’s dip.

As per the article, Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino said the new policies would help students and foreign workers with temporary status to “plan their future in Canada”. “Your status may be temporary, but your contributions are lasting — and we want you to stay“, he added.
