Curfew Violator Dies After Village Tanods Allegedly Beat Him Up in Calamba
CURFEW VIOLATOR DIES – A man who violated curfew hours in Calamba, Laguna died after village tanods allegedly beat him up.
The victim was identified as Ernanie Jimenez, based on the report of GMA News. According to eyewitnesses, the victim was beaten up by barangay tanods after being arrested for violating curfew in Barangay Tubina.
Gledien Jimenez, the victim’s brother, said Ernanie went out to buy food around 10 p.m. on April 7. However, Ernanie took too long to come back which prompted Gledien to follow him.

According to Gledien, he saw his brother already injured lying near the barangay hall. He revealed that village volunteers chase him and beat him until his head hit the pole but the volunteers did not stop.
Ernanie reportedly had bruises and a cracked skull. He was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment but died on April 9.
Meanwhile, the suspects denied the allegation. The said Ernanie ran away from them. The barangay captain insists that do not believe in false claims, adding that they are not brutal and know what they are doing.
The police and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) are investigating the matter. Authorities are also waiting for the results of the autopsy on the victim’s body.
