Chapter 16 is entitled “Sisa”. Here is the summary of the Chapter:
Sisa is the mother of the Sacristan siblings Crispin and Basilio. They live in a small hut outside the town. They were poor.
Sisa married a lazy, irresponsible gambling addict. The husband would oftentimes be brutally harsh to Sisa. She is martyr yet no one noticed her suffering from her husband, who would go to church often.
One night, she married a special dinner, as Tasio the Sage said. This rarely happened in their lives.
She prepared dried fish and tomato for Crispin and pork tapa and duck thigh for Basilio.
Unfortunately, her children were unable to return home early to be with Sisa. They will never eat their dinner as her husband finished everything without consideration.
Saddened, she prepared another dried fish for the children who are expected to arrive. However, its been late at night and they were unable to return home. She stood up late at night until Basilio came and called to her.
