Push For Duterte As VP Will Continue Despite Pacquia Warning Says PDP Exec
PUSH FOR DUTERTE AS VP – Recently, members of the PDP-Laban larty circulated a resolution calling for President Rodrigo Duterte to run for Vice President.
However, the Party’s President, Senator Manny Pacquiao said the resolution was unauthorized. Furthermore, he emphasized that now is not the time to talk politics, especially amid the pandemic. Instead, Pacquiao urged his members to continue focusing on helping the Filipino people get through the tough times.
But, according to PDP-Laban Deputy Secretary General Melvin Matibag, the push for Duterte to run as vice president won’t stop. Based on an article from Inquirer, Matibag said:
I respect our acting president Senator Manny Pacquiao. But mayroon kaming mga pinaniniwalaang principle sa PDP kagaya nung consultative and participatory democracy. So how can we stop ‘yung members namin who want to sign it?
On the contrary, Matibag expressed that the resolution was gaining traction among members. He explained that the resolution is “staying alive on its own”. He added that it was actually President Duterte as the chairman who can single-handedly unify PDP-Laban.
