Sinas Ignored Health Protocols During Mindoro Visit – LGUs
SINAS IGNORED HEALTH PROTOCOLS – Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Debold Sinas didn’t comply with COVID-19 health protocols according to the provincial government of Mindoro.
Recently, Sinas was confirmed to be positive for COVID-19. Coincidentally, this was also the day when the PNP chief visited Oriental Mindoro. According to an article from GMA, the local government of Mindoro said:
Si PGen. Debold Sinas ay hindi dumaan sa pier ng Calapan at hindi siya kabilang sa mga na-profile ng mga kawani ng PGOM. Siya ay dumating sa lalawigan lulan ng helicopter at dumiretsyo sa Regional Headquarters
Furthermore, the government of Mindoro expressed dismay due to the incident. Meanwhile, Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar was placed has officer-in-charge while Sinas is under quarantine.
Currently, government officials traveling for work need not pass any COVID-19 tests. Additionally, they aren’t required to undergo quarantine when traveling through provinces. The only requires is that you don’t show symptoms of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, amid the ease in travel restrictions, the number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines drastically surged. According to the OCTA research group, this may be due to the presence of new, more infectious coronavirus strains and the reopening of the economy.
Moreover, they warned that the Philippines could see over 5,000 daily COVID-19 cases by the end of March if the new strains aren’t contained.
