Armed Forces’ Western Mindanao Command chief Lieutenant General  Corleto Vinluan Jr. said that the vessel was assuaulted by three armed men aboard a speed boat while on its course from Bongao to Sibutu on March 3, according to GMA News.

“Our Littoral Monitoring Station in Bongao received the call and immediately coordinated with us,”

This came from a statement by Commander of the Naval Forces Western Mindanao Rear Admiral Toribio Adaci Jr.

“I then directed Boat Attack 489 (BA489) to depart from her post in Lamion to proceed to the said location to deter the possible seajacking,”

The suspects aborted their attempt to jack the sea vessel.

Based on the report, the WestMinCom said that the vessel was escorted to her destination to ensure the safety of the crew and passengers.

“The naval and aerial assets are deployed to continuously monitor and secure transiting vessels and likewise lookout and pursue the perpetrators of the foiled seajacking,”
