Here’s the statement of Solenn Heussaff after netizens slammed her promotional post for her exhibit
Kapuso star Solenn Heussaff has this reaction following the backlash that her photo using “poverty background” received criticisms from netizens.
Solenn has been expressing her artistic side through her paintings. However, her recent post that was already deleted received negative comments from many netizens.
With this, the actress shared her reaction. Through her Facebook Page, Solenn said that many people are quick to judge. She said that she will just share the story if the exhibit is already complete. Then, she posted her apology.
On the morning of March 4, the Kapuso star explained her side following her controversial art exhibit promotional post. She is aware that it has sparked some debate as netizens were either pro or against it.
“While I appreciate the encouragement some shared, I also want to apologize to those I have hurt. Wanted to shoot it in a typical street, those we drive by everyday,” Solenn Heussaff said.
She explained that “humanity” has been the subject of her art, regardless of the status of the people. The actress also said that all the comments, especially those that are negative have become part of her learnings.
“I did not want to romanticize the poverty of the everyday Pinoy or the resiliency that we naturally have. I really hoped to honor our people by being truthful about the kind of life a lot of Filipinos live today and to show that Filipinos deserve better,” she stressed.
Solenn Heussaff added that this is an eye-opener for her also.
