What will be the new Miss Universe pageant format?
The Miss Universe competition for 2021 reportedly will showcase a new format, different from what was done in the past years.
Indeed, this pageant is one of the most prestigious beauty competitions in the whole world.
Over the years, MU has hailed beauty queens who stand as epitome of women empowerment and advocacy that leads to a better community.
However, just like other industries and businesses, beauty pageants have to cope up also with the present situation and the changes brought by time and the surrounding circumstances.
With this, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Miss Universe is also set to “evolve” for its 2021 beauty pageant.
MUO vice-president Shawn McClain made an announcement about the changes that this year’s competition will have.
In a statement issued in Spanish, McClain stated: “There’s is a chance we change a bit, change some things about Miss Universe. I can’t say many details now, but changes (in) some parts of the show, some aspects of the competition to make it more a little 2021 as (like) an evolution of Miss Universe. We have a ton of people, a huge team thinking, creating the new format, new way of doing things and we are working on that. Now the pandemic brought many negative things, but also many positives.”
He added that after holding the Miss USA, the pageant organization has learned how to hold this kind of event while observing the health protocols strictly.
It was also said that candidates, as well as the audience, should expect that changes in the format of the show. This goes also with the preliminary competitions.
Based on the article, rumors surfaced that there will be changes in the selection process in having the semi-finalists. It was said that the process will return to its former manner which is selecting from those who are in the top-scoring bracket instead of having the qualifiers through their respective regions.
Reportedly, the 69th edition of Miss Universe is set to happen on May 9, 2021 but the MUO has to confirm this yet.
