SHIH TZU – In this topic, we are going to know and learn about a well-known dog breed known as the Shih Tzu.
The Shih Tzu is a breed of dog of Tibetan origin. Its name loosely translate to “little lion” in Chinese because it is bred to resemble the lion.
It is a dog breed with a small muzzle and dark brown eyes. It also has a soft and long double coat, which are seldom long but often short and curly.
According to DogTime, it is bred solely to be toy dogs or to be companions and is known to be affectionate, happy, outgoing house dogs who loves to follow its people from room to room.
It has made itself comfortable usually on laps of people from all walks of life, including emperors.
In the modern age however, pet parents took this breed off their laps and train them for obedience, rally, and agility competitions. They also make great family pets who get along with other animals and especially kids.
This breed originated in Tibet possibly in the 7th century and may have simply been the smallest of the Lhasa Apsos there. Iw was given as a gift to Chinese emperors. The breed made its way to England when the British arrived to China; and eventually in the US.
