A Hawaii-based Pinay is set to represent the Philippines in Mrs. World 2021
Meranie Gadiana Rahman, who is based in Hawaii, is the representative of the Philippines in the Mrs. World 2021 that is set to be held in Sri Lanka.
She is advocating PPD or PostpartumDepression. Meranie is currently getting ready and intense preparation to raise the Philippine flag in the said beauty pageant.
Talking to Philstar, she said the title holds a huge responsibility and so she had to be prepared for this. “I have to prepare well in all aspects of pageantry, including dresses, national costume, public speaking,” Meranie shared.
She also said that she feels honored to be representing the Philippines in a prestigious beauty competition.
“I feel blessed that my childhood dream has come true. I also feel more blessed that I have a stronger voice to promote my advocacy, postpartum depression, of which I am a survivor myself,” Meranie addd.
Talking about her advocacy, she admitted that she also went through PPD. That is why is aims to educate women around the world regarding this matter.
She stressed that this condition is a serious matter and that many women are going through this. However, Meranie said that this situation can be overcome and can live a very normal life after this phase.
“I would like to mention that I have opened a non-profit organization, You Are Loved Foundation for Postpartum Depression Awareness. We are always here to help victims of postpartum depression by offering free counseling,” she shared.
The representative of the Philippines for the Mrs. World 2021 also expressed gratitude to the support that she has been receiving from fellow Filipinos in her pageant journey.
