Meet Javi Benitez as the President of Brightlight Productions
Javi Benitez is known by many showbiz fans as an actor but he also has a big responsibility behind the camera as the President of Brightlight Productions headed by his father, former Negros Rep. Albee Benitez.
Being under the management of Star Magic, Javi already appeared in several ABS-CBN shows such as FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano and A Soldier’s Heart.
When he was 13 years, he became a co-host of the TV show called Sports Kidz (2006-2008). Then, he became his dad’s co-host in two seasons of Game Changer on ANC in his grown-up years.
Based on the article in The Philippine Star, the actor is currently working on a series on Cignal/TV5 produced by Perci Intalan and Jun Lana of The IdeaFirst Company. This is titled Dear God.
The release of his movie Kid Alpha One that showcases his talent in martial arts was postponed due to the pandemic.
Javi shared what his father said to him when he asked his permission to formally enter the world of showbiz. “If you like it, stay. If you don’t, go back to the corporate world,” he shared the words from his dad.
There are just two things that he has to remember always as what his father told him, “Don’t do drugs and don’t get a girl pregnant.”
Aside from his stints on-cam, Javi Benitez is inevitable to be in the business world also. He took up Political Science in college (Santa Clara University in California). His internship was at at IdeaSpace Philippines, the local start-up incubator by PLDT.
When asked if he will assume his position in his father’s production company, Javi Benitez said he might. “Maybe sooner than later. After all, I am the BP president as listed in the company documents.”
These past few months, it has been reported that Brightlight Productions suffered from financial losses from three of its shows- Sunday Noontime Live/SNL, I Got You, and Sunday Kada which according to Albee has a much higher budget compared Lunch Out Loud/LOL, Rated K, and Oh My Dad that are still airing.
When Javi was asked if he will do a “cost-cutting” revamp when he assumed his position in the production company, he did not say anything.
What can you say about this?
