Here’s what Darryl Yap said to Liza Soberano

Tililing director Darryl Yap reacted to the criticism that Liza Soberano expressed against the poster of the movie.

In the movie poster, the cast posed with their tongues out, a common perception that showed someone is insane. This did not sit well with the young actress. Although she is praising the movie for its theme of spreading mental health awareness but she said that has become a “stigma”.

In line with this, Daryl Yap aired his views as the movie director through a Facebook post.

“Sa iyo Miss Liza Soberano, Ang iyong pag-asa na sana’y makapagbigay liwanag ang aming pelikula sa pagpapalawak ng kaalaman sa pangkalusugang pangkaisipan ay hindi masasayang, HINDI KA NAMIN BIBIGUIN,” the filmamaker started his post dedicated to the actress.

Sharing the screenshot of Liza’s tweet, he added that the cast members of the movie went through a lot of struggles that have strengthen their mental health.

“Sigurado kaming hindi nila tatanggapin ang isang proyektong ikapapahamak ng kanilang prinsipyo at pagkatao; Matatalino ang aking mga artista, at matapang ang kanilang direktor.” Darryl Yap stressed.

He also assured that the actress will surely understand why “Tililing” was chosen as the title and why the artists’ tongues are out in the movie posters.

The filmmaker also said that Liza Soberano will understand why they stand for the quality of the message that the movie has for the public.

“Kaisa po ninyo kami sa inyong adbokasiya. Maraming Salamat po,” he said.
