Foreign Tourists Not Allowed Entry IN PH, Nograles Clarifies Travel Restriction Lift
FOREIGN TOURISTS NOT ALLOWED IN PH ā Recently, the Philippines lifted travel ban to countries with reported cases of the new UK COVID-19 virus.
However, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles clarified that the ease of travel restrictions don’t apply to foreign tourists. During an interview with ABS-CBN, Nograles emphasized that only those with investors Visa and those with spouses/children may visit.
Hindi po open sa mga turista, kaklaruhin ko lang. Hindi ibig sabihin ang mga turista ay maaari nang pumasok dito. Yun lamang may visa na existing at valid tulad ng investor’s visa, foreign spouses, children at iba pang nasa patakaran ng Bureau of Immigration
Furthermore, travelers who want to enter the country must undergo COVID-19 testing following 5 days of quarantine. Aside from this, most countries need to have passengers test negative for COVID-19 before being allowed travel.
Meanwhile, the Philippines has reported more than 50 cases of the new UK virus in an outbreak in the Mountain Province. According to local health experts, there has already been local transmission of the new virus variant.
As such, several villages in the Mountain Province, particularly in Bontoc was placed under lockdown. Local health officials said the outbreak was from clusters of close contacts of the initially UK variant-positive patient.
Currently, the world is watching out for new, more infectious variants of the coronavirus. On early January, the UK reported a new variant of COVID-19. Afterward, a strain from South Africa was found to be more resistant to coronavirus vaccines.
