Binangonan Police Station Under Probe Over Alleged Extortion Activities

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday ordered an investigation against Binangonan Municipal Police Station over alleged extortion activities.

The said police station is subjective for investigation after “civilian assets” were arrested for reported extortion activities. Based on the report of the Inquirer, Binangonan police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Ferdinand Ancheta is under investigation.

This after, PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas directed Calabarzon police director Police Brigadier General Felipe Natividad to investigate Ancheta over command responsibility for the alleged extortion activities of his subordinates.

According to the report, the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) arrested Albert Domingo alias Joel, and Pablo Dolfo alias Botchok, both civilian assets of Binangonan Police Station, in front of Binangonan City Hall on Tuesday afternoon during the entrapment operation.

Authorities seized cash, a cellphone, a gray Toyota Vios, and a motorcycle. Aside from the civilian assets, police officers were also involved in extortion activities.

Those involved were identified as Police Senior Master Sergeant Randy Andanar, Police Senior Staff Sergeant Joel Acosta, Police Senior Staff Sergeant Joe Sevillena, Police Corporal Allan Alvarez, Police Corporal Marson Tayaban, and Police Corporal Lew Armesis.

Arrested individuals are currently under the monitoring and care of the PNP-IMEG for further investigation. Police said the operation stemmed from a complaint by a certain Kellu, who accused police assets and law enforcers of extorting money from him in exchange for the release of an impounded motorcycle.
