FDA Warns Public Against Five Face Mask Brands Due To Lacking Certificates
FDA WARNS PUBLIC – The Food And Drug Administration (FDA) warned the Filipino public against using five face mask brands which lack notification certificates.
Furthermore, due to the lack of certificates, these masks did not go through the FDA before circulating the public. Here is the list of the brand the FDA mentioned:
- Cherub Daily Protective Mask
- Just Mask Anti Viral Face Mask
- Health Master Disposable Protective Mask
- Aidelai Disposable Face Mask
- Disposable Medical Mask
Earlier in the month, the FDA explained the masks failed to go through the regulatory body’s evaluation process. As such, the FDA released a statement saying:
“Pursuant to the Republic Act No. 9711, otherwise known as the ‘Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009,’ the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, non-consumer use, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products without the proper authorization is prohibited“
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the demand for masks is still high. As such, the FDA urged “all concerned establishments” not to distribute, advertise, or sell these masks. Moreover, they warned that if caught selling, regulatory actions, and sanctions shall strictly be pursued.
