Alleged BIFF Member Killed In Gunfight In Maguindanao

MAGUINDANAO – An alleged member of the BIFF was recently killed in an encounter with the military in Datu Hoffer, Maguindanao on Wednesday.

According to a report from GMA, this came from a statement from the Western Mindanao Command.

A WestMinCom official said that troops from the Limpongo Patrol Base were conducting checkpoint operations in Limpongo village when they faced more or less 10 members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

The encounter, which lasted for 45 minutes, resulted in the death of one BIFF member and injured a member of the Civilian Armed Auxiliary (CAA).

The slain BIFF member was identified as Nasser Kandao. His body was recovered by his troops at the encounter site and later turned it over to the Datu Hoffer Municipal Police Station.

The injured CAA member, on the other hand, was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Recovered from the encounter were one M16 rifle, one XRM motorcycle, and two short magazines, based on the report.

Colonel Ferdinand Lacadin, the officer-in-charge of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade, has ordered troops to conduct combat patrol along Ampatuan and Shariff Aguak National Highway and to establish blockade on the possible enemy withdrawal routes.
