However, Irishman by the name of Mclaughlan, took it upon himself to be with the person he loves. According to an article from ABS-CBN, the day after he bought the Jet Ski, he travelled from Scotland to the Isle of Man.

The best part about this entire incident was the man admitted that he’d never rode in a Jet Ski before. Along with this, he was traveling the sea in bad weather conditions leading to a 4 and a half hour trip.

When he finally reached the shore, the man had to walk 15 miles from the Isle of Man to get to his girlfriend’s home in Douglas.

Afterward, the couple spent a nice weekend enjoying the nightlife. Sadly, the reunion was cut short after police arrested Mclaughlan.

As per the article, authorities stated:

This individual was aware of the law and showed a flagrant disregard when they chose to break it, mixing in the community and potentially putting lives at risk

Even with Mclaughlan’s story of love, the government was unmoved by his gesture. As such, Howard Quayle, chief minister of the Isle of Man said:

On the Isle of Man, we’re all for ingenuity…

But unfortunately, this was an incredibly reckless, dangerous endeavor, which could have ended very differently given the time of year

Meanwhile, a boat dealer was unimpressed with McLaughlan’s trip. Allan Stirling, from Linwood, Scotland said the trip should’ve taken less than an hour. “You can see the Isle of Man from the peninsula where he set off from. To cover that distance is not a great feat.”, he said with disappointment.
