Jupiter And Saturn To ‘Dance’ To Great Conjunction On Dec. 21 – NASA

GREAT CONJUNCTION – NASA recently said that Jupiter and Saturn will make their dance as they form the “Great Conjunction.” on December 21.

This was confirmed in their post on Twitter, which you can check right here:

According to their website, the conjunction was discovered in 1623. During the event, Jupiter and Saturn, two of the biggest planets of the Solar System, travel together across the sky.

“You can imagine the solar system to be a racetrack, with each of the planets as a runner in their own lane and the Earth toward the center of the stadium,”

This came from a report from Henry Throop, astronomer in the Planetary Science Division at NASA Headquarters in Washington, who added that skywatchers will be able to see Jupiter on the inside lane, approaching Saurn and overtaking it on December 21.

They regularly appear to pass each other in the Solar system, with the positions of the two planets aligned in the sky once every 20 years.

NASA said that this year will be rare since it will nearly be 400 years since the planets passed very close to each other the sky and about 800 years since the alignment of Saturn and Jupiter occurred at night, based on the report.

The closest alignment will appear just a tenth of a degree apart and will last a few days. They will appear so close that a pinkie finger at arm’s length will easily cover both planets in the sky.

What do you think of this report? How will you react to this? Let us know more about it in the comments below.
