COVID-19 Vaccine Funds Set Aside For House Employees Announced Speaker Velasco
COVID-19 VACCINE FUNDS – During a media forum on Wednesday, House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco said the house had set aside funds for vaccinations of House employees and their families.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the vaccine is among the things many Filipinos are hopeful for. However, with its scarcity, not every Filipino may be immunized with the vaccine.
Meanwhile, Velasco, during a forum said:
We’ve decided that for the normalcy of business in Congress, we’ve decided to set aside a certain amount for the vaccines, for purchasing of vaccines for our employees times five
This meant that five of a House Employee’s immediate family members would be included for the vaccine budget. Velasco explained that he merely wanted “the legislative mil to be grinding”.
Furthermore, Velasco also added that members of the House Media are also covered in the COVID-19 vaccination of the chamber. According to an article from GMA, the house speaker stated that their “media friends” were also considered as their “family”.
Naisip ko rin na ang ating media friends who’s also considered as our family. So we’ll include our media friends in the vaccines.
However, Velasco failed to disclose how much money would be allocated for the vaccination of the House employees. Moreover, he said that the vaccination in the chamber would prioritize its employees, the media and their family, then the House Members.
