Cebu Lawyer Murder Suspects To Be Charged

CEBU LAWYER MURDER SUSPECTS – Six individuals who were involved in the killing of Cebu lawyer Joey Luis Wee will be charged upon.

According to a report from Inquirer’s Cebu Daily News, the assailant, identified as Fausto Edgar Benigno Peralta, was turned over to the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI-7) on Thursday.

Peralta was arrested in Laguna on December 8 by operatives from the NBI’s central office.

NBI-7 director Lawyer Renan Oliva said that they identified a total of six individuals, among them including the mastermind, who was said to have conspired to kill the lawyers.

Wee was shot in front of his law office on November 23, 2020 in Barangay Kasambagan.

Oliva added that all six suspects will be facing complaints on conspiracy to commit murder, based on the report.

“Of the six suspects, three have been identified including the gunman. The other three, we have pictures of their faces, and based on testimonial evidence, pointed out that these suspects were with the three earlier identified. We now only need to determine their names,”

Oliva reported that they were able to trace and determine the suspects after collecting testimonial, documentary and electronic evidence, among the latter include CCTV footage.

He added that their probe would still be conducted to determine the identity of the mastermind even after they would file the cases.

He added that they have been coordinating with the police here who formed a dedicated investigative task group to shed light on his killing.
