April Boy Regino Used as Inspiration of Fan to Change His Life
A big fan and impersonator of the late singer and song-writer April Boy Regino changed his life as he is inspired with the him.
Felipe Mendoza Jr. AKA “Idol JP Mendoza” thanked the late singer who passed away on November 29. Idol JP Mendoza was one of those who sympathized with the death of April Boy Regino.
The story of Idol JP, the proud impersonator of April Boy Regino, the Regino family supported his idol imitation for two decades. He shared that because of April Boy he earned money to feed his family.
“Kasi ‘yung pag gaya ko kay idol. Nagawa ko na po siyang hanapbuhay doon po ako kumikita, mula sa pagkain namin, pambayad sa bahay, sa lahat lahat doon ako sumasandal kaya malaki ang pasalamat ko sa pamilya Regino kina Maa’m Madel (Regino) idol JC (John Christian Regino) at sa lahat ng mga kapatid ni Idol, maraming maraming salamat po,” he said in an interview with PUSH.
According to Idol JP, he started as a fan of Freddie Aguilar in the ‘90s, but due to April Boy’s unique look and style, Idol JP admitted that his idol immediately stirred his feelings as a follower.

From the styling, movement, and length of hair, Idol JP imitates the looks of his idol which is also one of the reasons he continues to dream as a singer. He shared that he does live shows around the country and even go abroad.
“Yes po, kumakanta rin po ako. Live at nagso-show na rin ako sa iba’t ibang lugar Luzon, Vizayas, Mindanao and nakapag-abroad na rin po ako sa Sydney, Australia,” sambit pa niya,” he said.
Proud impersonator though, Idol JP also admitted that the process was not easy when he imitated the timbre of the idol’s voice. “Iba ang boses ni idol e, kakaiba ang boses niya ‘yung boses niya ang hindi ko kaya gayahin,” he said.
Idol JP also returned and one of their encounters with the late OPM singer when he celebrated his 56th birthday where he left. He revealed the OPM legend advised him to continue his imitating job.
And at the farewell of his idol, Idol JP admitted that it was a big loss. Even though the idol knows, Idol JP still wants to continue April Boy’s legacy in the way he imitated it. Sunday, December 6, April Boy Regino was taken to his final destination at a private cemetery in Antipolo, Rizal.
