Finding Agnes Review: Jelson Bay, Sue Ramirez Show Magical Contrast

How’s the tandem of Jelson Bay and Sue Ramirez in Netflix’s Finding Agnes?

Finding Agnes was finally released on Netflix and the tandem of lead stars Jelson Bay and Sue Ramirez showed a magical contrast.

The story goes far to Morocco as the mother of Virgilio “Brix” Rivero (Bay), Agnes (Roxanne Guinoo), left him when he was young. After 25 years, he and his mother, (played by Sandy Andolong) had the chance to reconnect but the latter died even before that happens.

Brix found out that the letters of her mother from Morocco were kept by his father and stepmother. Agnes has written in her will that she wants her ashes to be brought back to Brines to be buried, where she owns Bed and Breakfast in Marrakesh.

In fulfilling the wish of his mother, Brix met Cathy Duvera (Sur Ramirez), the manager and Agnes treated her like her own daughter. The two had to go on a road trip to fulfill Agnes’ last wish – to return a certain figurine to Regina Castor (Dexter Doria). With this, Brix had a journey in knowing his mother as well.

Based on the review written on Fred Said, Finding Agnes might surprise viewers as Jelson Bay was chosen to be the lead actor in a role that many might perceive for actors like Piolo Pascual.

However, he was able to settle in his role despite that there were few moments that he would lean on his comedic side. The script was also commended for not mentioning the physical aspect of the lead character.

Apparently, his physical appearance is not a factor to be concerned about. When it comes to Sue Ramirez, she sets the balance. Her classy and amiable personality in the movie added a different flavor.

The delivery of her Arabic lines was also commendable as if it was her second language if not the first. It is also a thing to point out the magical contrast of seeing Ramirez and Bay in one frame. In a potentially romantic situation, the script is highly praised for not forcing this matter.

The movie review also has a thumbs up for the cinematography for showcasing the picturesque views of Morocco as well as the architecture and interior designs.

Ramirez’s wardrobe also added to the authenticity of the movie aside from the emotional moments. Finding Agnes is not just one of those Pinoy movies shot abroad featuring different cultures and places but it also has “refreshing sincerity and heart,” as Fred Said stated.
