Poseur Buyer Shot To Death In Sting In Oton Town, Iloilo
OTON TOWN -A poseur-buyer was shot to death in a drug bust operation gone wrong in Oton town in the Iloilo province.
According to Panay News, the fatality, identified as Police Corporal Felfranz Lumahang of Barangay Batuan, aged 32 years, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds while being treated at the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital in Molo district.
He was assigned as the poseur buyer in an entrapment operation in Barangay Abilay in the said town when he was shot down at about 3:20 on November 28.
Iloilo provincial police director Colonel Gilbert Gorero said that the suspect was peppered the cop with bullets after sensing that he was transacting with the police.
The suspect fled onboard a motorcycle of a companion who served as lookout.
Gorero added that the cop was in his seventh year of service in the police force. The cop was a member of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit.
Lumahang and other cops of the Mandurriao police station conducted a buy-bust operation Mary Lee Zaragoza of Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao two hours before the incident.
Retrieved from the operation were 12 sachets of illegal drugs valued at around P80,000.
The cop bought P19,500 worth of illegal drugs from Zaragoza and she was brought to police station for interrogation.
“After the interrogation, Lumahang conducted a follow-up operation in Oton where he was shot,”
In a statement, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO- 6) condoled with the family of Lumahang.
“Corporal Lumahang, who dedicated his life to serve the Ilonggos, will never be forgotten. The men and women of PRO-6 will forever be grateful for the courage he showed and for his devotion to police service,”
