Police Brig. Gen. Pascual Muñoz Jr., police regional director of Mimaropa, said that they looked into a land dispute as the motive behind the killing of the lawyer in the municipality of Narra, according to a report from PhilStar.

“We filed six [cases] plus six ‘Juan Dela Cruz’s, including [shooter], driver of van, lookouts, possible [shooter] from the van, possible person inside the van,”

In the course of their probing, police have retrieved video from the fatality’s vehicle and CCTV footage from areas where his killers stayed before they shot Magcamit.

Marcelino Quioyo, who is said to be the brains behind the assassination, surrendered to the cops in fear for his life. Quioyo was placed under custody.

Muñoz explained that the fatality was the lawyer of the Hermogenes family, who is in a land dispute with Quioyo’s family. He added that they received complaints that the two factions of families are involved in strafing and stoning houses.

Based on the report, Police SSgt. Ariel Pareja, who was allegedly with Quioyo during hearings, was also arrested. Pareja  was reportedly “moonlighting as a bodyguard for Quioyo, who is involved in a court case over a land dispute where Magcamit is representing the other party.”

Quioyo, Pareja and the driver of the vehicle was charged supplemental complaints.
