PNP On Hunt For Drug Suspect Who Injured Cop In Mindoro
PNP – Philippine National Police operatives are currently on a manhunt operation against a drug suspect who injured a cop in Mindoro.
The police agency said that the injured cop, identified as Master Sergeant Rolly Castellano, a member of the Intelligence Unit of Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office, is sustaining a gunshot wound in the head in a sting operation in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro.
Among the suspects was one identified as Jonas Galicia, who was able to escape using a motorcycle.
Officials reported that Galicia sensed that he was transacting with cops so he drew his firearm and shot the police.
“This incident shows the risks faced by anti-illegal drugs operatives when confronting drug suspects and syndicates who will not be captured without a fight,”
This came from a statement from PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier Ildebrandi Usana, who said that chief Police General Debold Sinas already ordered MIMAROPA police to attend to Castellano’s medical needs.
Based on the report, Sinas stressed the need for operating units to be equipped with protective gear when in operations in his guidance.
At the same time, the “poseur buyer” operatives in stings must be on alert in case their target suddenly suspected them as agents of the law, Sinas added.
