Portes was seated in a chair in front of KGP building along J.P. Rizal street in Barangay Bukal around 5 PM when the incident occurred, according to Quezon police director Police Colonel Audie Madrideo.

The mayor has not made any public statement about her father’s shooting, which occurred on the eve of the Pagbilao’s fiesta celebration.

The gunman, who was wearing brown short pants, wearing a face mask, bull cap and with his right hand inside his gray jacket’s pocket casually approached ten steps towards the victim, pulled a handgun from his pocket and shot the victim on his face at close range.

Based on the report, the gunman fired another shot at Portes after the latter fell on the ground. The assailant then returns to the motorcycle and escaped.

He also fired a shot towards two people from the building but missed. The building was owned by the ex-mayor, who is living in Barangay Ikirin.
