Punta Taytay Resorts In Bacolod Closed For Quarantine Violations

PUNTA TAYTAY RESORTS – Several beach resorts in Barangay Punta Taytay, Bacolod were shut down due to alleged violation of health protocols.

Police Station 9 chief Lieutenant Gilbert Batiles said that the establishments failed to enforce protocols on their visitors such as wearing of facemask and face shield, and observing social distancing, according to a report from Panay News.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) concurred with the PS9 chief’s decision, adding that they received several calls from concerned citizens regarding beach resorts not fully enforcing the health protocols.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, on the other hand, said that those who were able to secure a Certificate of Authority to Operate from the Department of Tourism are allowed to operate

There are 28 accommodation establishments in Bacolod City that secured the CAO, as of the moment. However, most resorts in the said barangay, have yet to secure CAO.

Councilor Israel Salangga, who also chairs the city council’s Committee on Tourism, said the beach resorts needed to be closed sue to Section 5 of Executive Order No. 70 that was issued by Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

EO 70 prohibits the operation of tourist spots while the city is under general community quarantine, based on the report, Among the tourist spots the EO covers include the beach resorts and water parks.
