Fortunately for the victim’s niece, she was unharmed.
Yecyec added that they were looking into possible involvement of the NPA behind the attack, citing information previously gathered by police intelligence officers, whcih says that the victim was also a military informant.
Authorities, however, are yet to determine if the assault was perpetrated by the rebel group. Probers continues to conduct investigation regarding the incident.
Assailants used .45 caliber pistols against the victim. The fatality sustained two gunshot wounds in the head and one in the chest.
The gunmen who were wearing hoodies and facemasks allegedly tried to get something from the utility box of the victim’s motorcycle but immediately fled when an incoming truck neared.
Based on the report, the province of Bohol is considered insurgency-free by authorities. However, there have been encounters between state forces and the rebel group in the past two years.
These occur in far-flung villages, including those in the town.
