Carla Abellana Encourage People to Adopt Stray Animals Instead of Buying
Kapuso actress Carla Abellana took Instagram to encourage animal lovers to adopt homeless and impounded animals instead of buying.
Carla is the 34-year-old Kapuso actress who is a well-known animal rights advocate. In an Instagram Story on Wednesday, October 21, Carla mentioned about the legality of euthanasia in city pound dogs.
Carla’s Story includes a video clip of GMA-7 prime-time newscast 24 Oras’ news about the PAWSsion Project rescuing 37 of the 83 remaining dogs in the city pound.
Carla’s caption (published as is): “Did you know that according to the law, aspins and puspins that are caught and locked up in City Pounds have to be euthanized every month?”
According to the Anti-Rabies Act or Republic Act 9482. Section 9 of RA 9482 states that impounded dogs not withdrawn from the pound within three days “shall be placed for adoption to qualified persons, with the assistance of an animal welfare NGO, when feasible, or otherwise disposed of in any manner. ” It is also in accordance with the provisions of the Animal Welfare Act or RA 8485.
As a result, The PAWSsion Project, a non-profit organization that rescues, cares for, and promotes the adoption of abandoned or mistreated dogs, took an action to save the lives of 100 dogs staying in the city pound of San Jose del Monte City in the province.

In a Facebook post on October 15, the PAWSsion Project announced that one hundred dogs, and some cats, are set to be euthanized, or killed, in Bulacan. The number of dogs in the city pound has lasted for more than a month.
According to the 24 Oras report, as much as possible the city government avoids euthanizing dogs. So it is said that a big thing can be helped if there is an adoption of rescued dogs.
Malou Perez said that the PAWSsion Project has raised enough money to pay the adoption fee of 100 dogs to the San Jose del Monte city government in Bulacan province. The adoption fee costs PHP500 per dog, but it already covers the anti-rabies vaccine and is available for adopted dogs.
However, only 37 of the remaining 83 dogs in the city pound were seized by the PAWSsion Project on Wednesday. That is the only thing that fits in the group’s shelter which is also located in San Jose del Monte, according to Perez.
That is why the PAWSsion Project calls on animal lovers to adopt other dogs left in the city pound. Dog adopters will no longer have to pay an adoption fee because the PAWSsion Project will pay for it.
Carla Abellana praised the rescue of the animal welfare group PAWSsion Project from some of the one hundred dogs that would have been subjected to euthanasia at a city pound in Bulacan.
