Four Suspected NPA Rebels Arrested In Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental

FOUR SUSPECTED NPA REBELS – Four suspected members of New People’s Army were arrested at a checkpoint in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.

They were arrested by a team of police and Army personnel at a checkpoint in Barangay Montilla, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, according to a report from Panay News.

Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division spokesperson Army Major Cenon Pancito identified the suspects as Jovanie Bohol, aged 25, Wilmar Pongasi, aged 24, Juannie Obidas, aged 31, and Lioltren Trinidad, also aged 31.

Pancito said that troops of the 62nd Infantry Battalion (62IB) and police force of Moises Padilla installed checkpoints October 2 after gaining information from locals about four suspected people who are on board two motorcycles.

After 8 PM, the four men passed through the checkpoint. While they being questioned, one of them yielded a gun, urging the army and police personnel to make the arrest.

The four were said to be members of NPA’s Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros/Cebu/Bohol/Siquijor.

Retrieved from them were a .45-caliber pistol from Bohol while Pongasi yielded a loaded M203 grenade launcher.

Other items retrieved were a transistor radio, a pair of rain boots, an NPA flag, a printer, and subversive documents, which include a marriage certificate owned by Nona Espinosa and Adidas Acero, who were arrested in Guihulngan City, based on the report.
