Katrina Halili Talks About Her Famous Issue And How She Overcame Adversity
KATRINA HALILI – Over a decade after her “famous issue”, Katrina Halili opens up about how she overcame the struggles that came along with it.
According to an interview with Pep, Katrina Halili said that she wanted out of showbiz following her issue. Along with this, she said she just wanted to go back to Palawan and was ready to quit showbiz entirely.
However, Halili recalled GMA-7 didn’t want her to quit just yet. At the time, the producers and show runners told her that she shouldn’t let her issue get the best of her. Along with this, they said that the best way to move past it was to continue working.
Katrina said that for a span of a year, she didn’t talk to people on set. “Nasa kotse lang ako. ‘Tapos lagi lang ako nakayuko. Punta ako ng mall, nakayuko lang ako palagi“, she added.
But, one of the people who greatly helped Halili was the late director Maryo J. De Los Reyes. She recalled that De Los Reyes always looked out for her and had a vision for her career. As per the article, Halili said that it was because of De Los Reyes that she felt confident in her self again. Furthermore, she learned how to love her work.
Biruin mo, antagal ko hindi na-appreciate yung work ko. Na-appreciate ko nung pina-appreciate sa akin ni Direk yung talagang tiwala niya
However, in 2009, Halili turned down the leading role in the remake of the Mexacanovela “Ang Rosalinda”. She said, “Tinatanggihan ko kasi parang feeling ko, ‘Sino pa manonood sa akin?“.
