Assistant Secretary Joseph Encabo, who is the lead lead convenor of the government’s Hatid Tulong program, said that officials are looking for temporary places for the 430 locally stranded individuals, who are currently camped outside the said area, according to a report from GMA News,

Among the LSIs were some who lost their jobs during the pandemic and sought help from the government, and some who already had tickets to flights that have since been cancelled.

Encabo said that the Hatid Tulong program iscurrently coordinating with government agencies and local governments to relocate the LSIs to temporary shelter as of the moment.

“Within this week po malalaman din natin kung ano ‘yung mga sagot nila, at talagang bibigyan po natin ng priority itong mga taong nasa labas ng Libingan ng mga Bayani,”

Encabo also urged LSIs to coordinate firsthand with their respective LGUs and to only head to the sendoff areas when they are already scheduled for a trip home.

The following areas, based on the report, are currently receiving their returning constituents:

  • Negros Oriental,
  • Dumaguete City
  • Caraga region
  • Cotabato province
  • some provinces in Region 12
  • Jolo
  • Tawi-Tawi
  • Palawan
  • Bicol region except Masbate, and Romblon.
