Here’s what Leila Alcasid shared about her famous parents
Rising singer Leila Alcasid shared how’s it like to have famous parents who are also musically inclined.
Leila is the daughter of OPM icon Ogie Alcasid, who has written hit songs, with ex-wife former beauty queen Michelle Van Eimeren. When Ogie and Michelle separated, the singer-songwriter remarried with Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez.
With this, Regine has become the stepmom of Leila and they were able to strengthen their parent-daughter relationship over the years. Talking about her popular parents, Leila Alcasid, talking to Philstar, said that the “famous” tag for her parents did not really matter as how she looks at them.

“I don’t know, I guess, I just look at my parents like my parents, you know. Growing up, I mean obviously, I knew that their job was to be musicians, but I don’t know. I look at my dad like my dad and I look at my stepmom (Regine Velasquez) like my stepmom,” the young recording artist said.
She added that she only realizes the fact that she has famous parents when they are in public and performing. For Leila, she looks at the OPM icons as an inspiration.
“It’s nice to have sources of inspiration constantly, even if they’re just singing, because I’ve been doing a lot of singing in the house now because of what’s happening. So, it’s nice to have that inspiration, to see just how resilient they are, and that regardless of whatever’s going on, they still find a way to do their job,” she shared.
Leila Alcasid is starting to establishing her name in the music industry and she is thankful that her father helped her a lot when recorded her latest song. She shared that Ogie gave input when she recorded her vocals as the OPM icon has its own studio at home.
However, the young singer said that basically, her father is letting her to do her own thing when it comes to music.
