Voter Registration Requires Facebook Pre-Reg. Residents Turned Down

FACEBOOK PRE-REGISTRATION – A resident from Manila complained that their precinct requires voter registration applicants to “pre-register” on Facebook.

One of the problems that persist in areas such as Manila is issues with the SAP cash aid. Furthermore, this too connects with the voter registration issue. For one, residents have claimed that they weren’t eligible for SAP because they weren’t voters. As such, residents took it upon themselves to register.

However, upon arriving at the COMELEC Manila election unit, a senior citizen complained that they won’t give an application because he did not “pre-register” on Facebook.

According to a report from DZMM, the incident happened in District 6 with the complainant being a Ruben Fortes. Moreover, Ruben complained that because he was a senior citizen, he wasn’t allowed to go out. But, because he needed to register, he took it upon himself to leave his home.

Sadly, upon arriving to the COMELEC office, he was turned down. Then, when he started to complain, the officials from the office literally turned his back on Ruben and refused to acknowledge his presence.
