By definition, writing refers to the activity or skill of marking coherent words on paper and composing text. It also refers to the activity or occupation of composing text for publication.
Types
There are four types, according to Grammarly:
- Expository Writing
- This type is the most common of the four. Here, a topic will be introduced and laid out in a logical order without the reference to the author’s personal opinions.
- Descriptive Writing
- This type aims of helping the reader visualize a character, event, place, or all at once in detail. The writer might also describe the scene in all five senses.
- Persuasive Writing
- Also known as argumentation, aims to influence the reader to assume the point of view of the author. The author will also express personal opinions in the piece and show evidence to make the reader agree with the author.
- Narrative Writing
- The type’s purpose is to tell a story, whether that the story is real or not. Pieces in this types will have characters and learns what happens to the said characters.
