MMDA Asserts No Need To Worry About Floating Footbridge
FLOATING FOOTBRIDGE – Recently, there had been social media post about a concerning footbridge along EDSA Boulevard.
However, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that there was nothing to worry about. Based on an article from Inquirer, MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago stated:
Walang dapat ipag-alala doon dahil meron namang temporary bracing, So what they posted is part of the process. Hindi pa ‘yun tapos nung time na ‘yun.
She explained that the column was overhanging. Furthermore, she asserted that this was normal as the proper alignments are still being measured.
As such, a temporary bracing was erected while measuring took place. She added that the bracing was also attached close to the column as a temporary brace for the footbridge.
As per the article, Pialago said the the MMDA had since contacted the original uploader of the photo. Due to the public panic caused by the photo, the MMDA asked for the picture to be deleted.
But, even with the original photo deleted, there were still similar photos seen over social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. However, Pialago said it was the same footbridge
