BUWAN NG WIKA 2020: Design Platform Released Filipino-themed Fonts, Photos

BUWAN NG WIKA 2020 – An online design and publishing platform recently launched Filipino-themed fonts and photos in time for Buwan ng Wika.

According to a report from ABS-CBN News, Canva, an online design and publishing platform said that its new offering includes 17 Filipino themed fonts like Kawit, which is a brush font that is reminiscent of the curves and flourish of old Philippine emblems”; Maragsa, which is designed after the sharp edges of accent marks whcih are used to correct the pronunciation of Filipino words”; and Dangwa, “a curvy typeface inspired by Filipino signmakers.” among others.

The fonts were the following:

  • BBT Martires
  • Kundiman
  • Quiapo
  • Anahaw
  • Cubao
  • Istruktura
  • Furgatorio
  • Alta
  • Belina
  • Villagers
  • Baybayin
  • Maragsa
  • Broke
  • Zenaida
  • Kagitingan
  • Batangas
  • Kawit
  • LL Baguio
  • Dangwa

Canva also said that it has template themes like Araw ng Kalayaan and Flores de Mayo, as well as design elements which showcases Filipino symbols like the flag, jeepney, kape at pandesal, and dalanghita.

The platform added that users can type in the keywords “Filipino” or “Pinoy” in order to find hundreds of other local elements. Users can also change the language setting to Tagalog.

It added that more localized designs will be available soon, based on the report.

Canva, which was launched in 2013, offers a library of templates for presentations, social media posts, and invitations to resumes, among others. The platform can be accessed via web, iOS, and Android.
