Checkpoint Police Gives Cash to Student to Pay School Fees So She Can Graduate

CHECKPOINT POLICE- A kind officer offers cash to a graduating student who was apprehended at the checkpoint to be able to join graduation.

In the Facebook post of Homer Teodoro, an inspiring story of a graduating student who was lacked financially to join the commencement exercise but able to participate after a kind police officer at checkpoint offered to settle her unpaid school fees.

Recently, Police Master Sergeant John Hay Macapulay, police officer manning at the checkpoint, apprehended a graduating student named Eunie Subaran with his brother due to some violations. Both are minors and riding a motorcycle without wearing helmets and have no driver’s license to show.

Subaran pleaded that they were just going to school to witness her classmates’ graduation where she was not able to participate due to unpaid balances. Also, they have plead for consideration as they not have money to pay for the penalty.

Instead of issuing a violation ticket, Macapulay asked them if they have already eaten. Macapulay, later treated them for a meal and shares his past life while eating.

In their conversation, Macapulay found out that Subaran was graduating student, adding that their meal was his gift for her, he said. However, Subaran replied that she is not participating in the event because she still has unpaid school fees.

Lucky for her, Macapulay was a generous officer and give her the best gift for her graduation. Macapulay made a thoughtful gesture that made her become emotional.

In an interview with Homer Teodoro Subaran said: “Sabi po niya, kumain lang daw po kami nang kumain kasi daw po may iba pa po siyang regalo sa akin,” “Doon po. Bigla na lang po niya akong sinabihan na ihahabol daw po niya ako sa mismong graduation ko,” she added.

Officer Macapulay accompanied them to her school and paid the remaining P3,900 balance. As a result, she can graduate by August 5. Aside from being an official graduate, the senior high student from New Christian Academy is set to graduate with honors.

Macapulay told Homer Teodoro in the interview that he really had soft heart for people in that situation as he also experienced the difficulties of being a student. It took him seven years to finish high school because of poverty.

He said that he had to do something that day as he didn’t want to regret not helping her. “Ang joy po na naramdaman ko noong time na ‘yon ay hindi po kayang bayaran ng ano mang uri ng pera,” he added.
