WE HAVE A PLAN – Finance Secretary Carlos “Sonny” Garcia Dominguez III said the Philippines would wait for a vaccine then buy it.
President Rodrigo Duterte held another state address to highlight his plans against COVID-19. This was following Vice President Leni Robredo’s nation address showing a comprehensive plan of action against the deadly disease.
Mostly, Duterte remained confident that China would give the Philippines priority when it comes to the coronavirus vaccine. Afterward, Dominguez talked about the Philippines’ plan for a new normal and how the country could achieve it.

“May balita ako ngayon na in advanced development na ang mga bakuna… Mukhang this might be approved by the FDA by most likely December.. When that happens ho, ang Department Of Health ang mamili kung anong tamang bakunang bibilhin.”
Afterward, the Finance Sec. said that they needed a minimum of 40 million doses of the vaccine at $10 per dose amounting to roughly 20 billion pesos. He explained that the DOH would choose the vaccine and the poorest of the poor would receive the vaccine for free.
“We have a plan and we can execute it as soon as the Department of Health chooses the vaccine or vaccines that they want. Baka, they would choose several. So certainly by late this year if it’s available we can already buy it. So, it should be available for free for the poorest of the poor first.
