Also known as quotes, quote marks, speech marks, inverted commas, or talking marks, these are known as punctuation marks which are used in pairs when it comes to various writing systems.
These are used to sett off direct speech, a quotation, or a phrase. These marks consist of two parts: opening mark and closing mark.
How To Use?
According to Grammarly, hen you want to use someone else’s words such as something you heard your friends say, you put it like this:
Marion said, “I always wanted to go to the mountains.”
If you don’t want to use these mark, you put it like this:
Marion said she always wanted to go to the mountains.
You can also use these marks when you quote a written source, unless you aim to paraphrase the said source, for example:
“All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players;”

Also in the example above, you can use the marks on titles or names of something owned by someone.
