Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto Falls Victim To Fake Social Media Account, Warns Public
VICO SOTTO FAKE ACCOUNT – Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto has been targeted yet again as he falls victim to another fake social media account.
Being one of the most popular figures in both the political world and in social media, Sotto’s name is constantly being used by scammers. Back in March, Vico Sotto warned about a fake account using his name. On his Twitter account he stated:
Don’t forget that there are a lot of fake accounts, fake quotes, fake anything-you-can-think-of… Hassle to deal w this on top of a health crisis.. di siguro maiwasan sa panahon ngayon lalo na’t maraming bored. Basta yung totoong account ko verified at pangit yung profile pic
This time, it was on Facebook that somebody tried to make a fake account using the popular Pasig Mayor’s name. As such, sotto announced on his Instagram page that there was another fake account with his name circulating online and urged people to watch out for the fake accounts.
Mag-ingat sa fake account at scam. Kung di sigurado, ituring na peke. Report to FB. Kung may nakikita kayong kaibigan na nagfo-follow sa mga ganitong account, pakisabihan po sila
The Pasig Mayor even quipped “Wag niyong hayaan na sila naman ang mahingan ng load“. Obviously, this won’t be the last time that the Mayor would encounter fake accounts. However, an easy way to spot a fake account is to check if it’s verified. Additionally, if the account promotes spam content, then it’s likely a fake account.
