Officially known as the Kingdom of Thailand and formerly Siam, it is a country in Southeast Asia that is found at the center of the Indochinese Peninsula.
Its official language is Thai and is known locally as Ratcha-anachak Thai (ราชอาณาจักรไทย).

The term Thai translates to “free man” in its own language or ‘people’ or ‘human being’.
Its former name Siam, on the other hand, came from the Pali term suvaṇṇabhūmi, which means “land of gold”, the Sanskrit śyāma (श्याम ) which means “dark”, or the Mon term rhmañña (ရာမည) which means “stranger”.
