Anakbayan Condems Sen. Bato Dela Rosa For His Statement
ANAKBAYAN – Youth group Anakbayan reacted to the controversial comments of Senator Bato Dela Rosa.
ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal is one of the most controversial issues in the Philippines today. The livelihood of thousands of employees is at stake. They could lose their jobs amid the coronavirus crisis.
Last February, Senator Bato Dela Rosa questioned the accuracy of the reports that 11,000 workers would lose their jobs if the media company’s franchise won’t be renewed. The neophyte senator said he would support ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal of the allegations against them were proven wrong.
On Thursday, July 9, Sen. Bato Dela Rosa gave his personal advice to the employees of the troubled network ABS-CBN. He said, “Hanap ng ibang trabaho para mabuhay, magsumikap, may ibang paraan pa naman siguro para mabuhay tayo. Hanap ng ibang jobs.”
“Alangan namang sabihin ko sa kanila na maghimagsik kayo, magwala kayo, hindi naman pwede yun. Hanap na lang kayo ng ibang trabaho para mabuhay ang pamilya ninyo,” he added.
Youth group Anakbayan-Makati condemned Bato Dela Rosa for his statement. They said he’s the one who should find another job. They released their statement on their Facebook Page on Thursday night.
“The only person who must find another job here is you…”
“Mahirap humanap ng trabaho ngayon. Ang mga kompanya ay nababankrupt, nagbabawas ng mga manggagawa, at napipilitan pang mag-sara dahil sa COVID-19 na palpak tinugunan ng rehimeng Duterte,” the group said.
The group explained that “no individual insensitive to the plights and concerns of the masses should be holding public office.”
