DOJ Locks Down NAIA Offices, Employees Tests Positive For Coronavirus
DOJ Locks Down NAIA Offices – The Department of Justice (DOJ) has shut down anti-trafficking offices of NAIA 1, 2, and 3 due to employees contracting COVID-19.
However, according to DOJ Under-Secretary Markk Perete, even with the offices at NAIA being closed, anti-trafficking protocols would remain active. Moreover, the span of the lockdown would be from July 8, 2020, until July 22, 2020.

Currently, the officer are undergoing cleansing and disinfection procedures. Meanwhile, the general public and personnel are now prohibited from entering the facilities.
According to a report from GMA, Parete said that passengers suspected to be trafficked would be tightly monitored. Additionally, they would be referred to a secondary proving by the Bureau of Immigration.
But, even with the offices temporarily closed for disinfection, Parete emphasized that the ICAT hotlines and social media accounts are still open to receive reports of trafficking.
Currently, there are over 50,359 cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines. Yesterday, the country had its largest reported number of cases in months under strict quarantine.
Of that number, over 1,314 people have succumbed to the deadly disease. Meanwhile, 12,588 have recovered from the new coronavirus.
