All you need to do is to make an equation that combines the ratio of the days required to finishing plowing the field. To do that, we need to place “x” as the number of days.

We know that the farmer could finish the work in 4 days and the hired hand at 6 days. So, we create an equation that looks like this:

(1/6) + (1/4) = 1/x –> In this equation, “x” represents the number of days the two workers could finish plowing the field.

Next, we need to find the LCD of 6 and 4 which is 12. Afterward, we can get:
