Toxic Methanol Found In Hand Sanitizers
TOXIC METHANOL – Amid the coronavirus pandemic, one of the most important necessities to have are hand sanitizers.
During the early days of the coronavirus, these commodities have sold out as soon as it was on stock. However, some people knew that supply was in heavy demand and started to create their own. But, the safety of these brands was very questionable.

As such, the Food and Drug Administration warned that several hand sanitizers that were made in Mexico may have toxic methanol. This type of alcohol would be toxic to the skin or when ingested. Here is the list of alcohol brands that were tagged by the FDA:

- Esk Biochem Hand Sanitizer
- CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 75% Alcohol
- Lavar 70 Gel Hand Sanitizer
- The Good Gel Antibacterial Gel Hand Sanitizer
- CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 80% Alcohol
- CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 75% Alcohol
- CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 80% Alcohol
- Saniderm Advanced Hand Sanitizer
According to an article from NBC, the FDA researchers tested Lavar Gel and ClearCare No Germ and detected the presence of methanol. However, they said that they had yet to hear about the toxic reactions related to the products.
Afterward, the FDA advised consumers who bought the products to dispose of them in hazardous waste containers. Furthermore, the FDA emphasized that the products should not be flushed or poured down the drainage systems in homes or in public.
